Welcome to my online portfolio.

I'm Sophie, a young designer and photographer based in the Hull area.
I'm currently in my final year of studying a BA Hons, in Graphic Design at Hull School of Art and Design (leaving middle of May, graduating in October 2012).

Although I have covered several aspects of the industry I feel myself being particularly drawn towards editorial design, and even more so photography.

Please feel free to have a look at my work,

Regards,
Sophie.

13th May

The end is now nearing! Just 4 days until my final deadline - glad to say I'm not in too much of a panic. I seem to be on track, always a good thing :)

Lots being added to my blog today and my precious cargo banners are finally going up! Later than previously mentioned due to funding problems. - So, pictures to come in the next few days! If anyone local wants to go have a look then they are located in St Stephens train station near the waiting room - you won't miss them!

Thanks for reading :)

5th March

9th March - 7th May; get it in your diaries! The Precious Cargo exhibition at Ferens Art Gallery, Hull will be open to the public. (Two of my pieces pointed out in the last post will be exhibited at the large scale of 2.5mx1m!)

Rather excited I must admit :) First piece(s) exhibited, lets hope it opens up new opportunities for me!

29th Febuary

Good news and bad news within the post, I'll start with the good as it's the most exciting!

So, I took the opportunity to produce a response to a small brief 'Precious Cargo' surrounding the history of Hull's whaling and slavery trades, in the excitement of my research I ended up producing two pieces - which have both been selected to be exhibited in Ferens art gallery - fab or what!

Both pieces can be viewed on my blog - first on my typography page and the second on my info graphics. (They are the vertical pieces - will be pointed out in the brief descriptions though!) Dates to come on the public exhibition...pictures to follow!

The smaller piece of bad news is (which I should have expected really), both the clients I was hoping to work with on the live briefs have not messaged back, thus giving me the impression they're not interested! Not for the want of trying, oh well - more time to focus on uni work!

16th February

It's been a while since my last post - while I feel like I've been working non stop on my design briefs I don't seem to have many 'final products' to upload.

Although, I'm sure there will be soon (hopefully!)

Rather excited though, I now have two live projects to do over the next few weeks, all good experience :) - On both expanding the portfolio front and developing my communication skills. So - watch this space!

5th February

As predicted it was a very busy weekend - so busy in fact it seems a week has passed me by! Oops, sorry for the lack of new work/posts!

Extremely busy over the next few weeks staying on top of existing briefs as well as starting new ones (including a live brief for a local company!) I'll try and update as I go along (good job my organisational skills are fairly good).

Just a little quote to get you thinking:
"Life is not about how fast you run or how high you climb but how well you bounce." - Vivian Komori (entrepreneur)

27th January

Spent a lot of time on my blog today which has resulted in at least one piece of work on each page - yet again so far so good! (Hope you agree).

Going to be adding a lot more next week including the rest of my 'monograph' pieces (if you don't already, you'll see what I mean when looking at my pages), got a nice mixture of work there to add including a 3D Model, Poster and Invite, more type....

Want to add yet another inspirational piece - this time it's a photographer by the name of Camille Seaman. (Click name to see her work!)
I found her while looking at TEDTalks, her video can be found here! (It's only 4 minutes long - there's no excuse not to!)
